Get rid of Co2 emissions from your generator
The aquaculture industry plays an important role in meeting the world’s food needs in a sustainable way. As a fish farmer, you can ensure that energy consumption on the farms is as sustainable as possible.
Switch to a hybrid energy solution
Today, it is often diesel generators with high CO2 emissions that are responsible for much of the energy supply out on the aquaculture fleets.
We have developed our own energy systems that make it easy to reduce the use of generators and improve the climate footprint in aquaculture. By installing our hybrid system, you get an environmentally friendly, economical and not least quiet primary energy source.
Are you considering a hybrid system for your fleet?
What is a hybrid system?
A hybrid system primarily consists of a battery, generator and control system, but can also be supplied with solar cells.
The batteries are recharged from generators, shore power or additional energy sources such as solar panels. This means you get a hybrid energy solution that works well and helps you save money on electricity bills and generator maintenance.
With a hybrid solution, the fleet can operate without using the generator to any great extent.
How the hybrid system works
The batteries are powered by surplus energy produced by the generators. When the batteries are full, the generators stop and start again only when needed. In this way, the operating time of the generators can be reduced from 24 hours to just a few hours, depending on the configuration of the plant. This cuts down on diesel use and eliminates generator noise for much of the day.
To further reduce the need for the generator, you can also use energy from solar cells to charge the battery.

Developed in collaboration with leading experts
Our hybrid energy system has been developed in collaboration with AKVA group, Siemens, Samsung SDI and TESVOLT. Together we have found the best energy solution for the aquaculture industry, which is adapted to the environment it will operate in. Therefore, the system has:
Optimal effect
Customized storage capacity
Estimated lifetime of 20 years

The management system Mímir
The control system is the key to an efficient hybrid system. That’s why we have developed KE Mímir, a software that optimizes and controls the energy flow in the hybrid system. With control you get:
Smart battery
Reporting
Remote control
Safe operation
Selected projects within aquaculture
Mortenlaks
In December 2019, we installed AKVA Hybrid track systems on Mortenlaks’ feed barge to reduce diesel consumption and CO2 emissions. The battery pack has a storage capacity of 173 kWh and a maximum output of 120 kW.
Annual diesel savings: 68 500l.
Kvarøy Fish Farming
In April 2019, the feed barge at Selsøyvær had the AKVA hybrid pack installed to reduce generator runtime, reduce diesel consumption, noise and exhaust on the barge. The battery pack has 158kWh storage capacity and has a maximum output of 142kW.
Annual diesel savings: 68 500l
