A hybrid system primarily consists of a battery, generator and control system, but can also be supplied with solar cells.<\/p>\n
The batteries are charged from generators, shore power or extra energy sources such as solar panels. This means that you get a hybrid energy solution that works well and helps you save money on electricity bills and generator maintenance. <\/p>\n

How the hybrid system works<\/h3>\n

The batteries receive power from surplus energy that the generators produce. When the batteries are full, the generators stop and start again only when needed. In this way, the generators’ operating time can be reduced from 24 hours to only a few hours, depending on the configuration of the system. This cuts down diesel consumption and eliminates generator noise for large parts of the day. <\/p>\n
To further reduce the need for the generator, you can also use energy from solar cells to charge the battery.<\/p>\n

In December 2019, we installed AKVA Hybrid banlegg on Mortenlaks’ feed barge to reduce diesel consumption and CO2 emissions. In April 2019, the feed barge at Sels\u00f8yv\u00e6r had an AKVA hybrid package installed to reduce generator running time, reduce diesel consumption, noise and exhaust on the barge. The battery pack has 158kWh storage capacity and has a maximum output of 142kW. <\/p>\n
